CSBC Adds Boxship Quartet

SITC International Holdings Company Ltd. (SITC) has exercised its options with CSBC Corporation, a shipbuilding company established in Taiwan, for the construction of four additional 1,800 TEU container vessels.

The four new vessels, estimated to be worth $92 million, will be funded by a combination of internal resources and/or external funding, the company said in the filling.

All new vessels will be equipped with an advanced global positioning system for navigation to improve safety and with energy efficient equipment to lower pollution and meet global environmental protection requirements.

Speed: 20.2 knots

Delivery of the first vessel is expected in May 2015, with the last one slated for handover in March 2016.
