Deals awarded for LNG Canada feeder pipeline construction

TransCanada said it has conditionally awarded four contracts for the construction of the proposed Coastal GasLink pipeline project, that will deliver feedgas to LNG Canada. 

The proposed pipeline, that will run approximately 670 km in lengths, will deliver natural gas from the Dawson Creek area of northern B.C. to a facility near Kitimat, B.C., where it will be liquefied for export by LNG Canada.

TransCanada awarded the deals, with a total value of CAD2.8 billion ($2.1 billion), to Surerus Murphy joint venture, SA Energy Group, Macro Spiecapag JV and Pacific Atlantic Pipeline Construction.

LNG Canada is a joint venture company comprised of five global energy companies, Shell, Petronas, PetroChina, KOGAS and Mitsubishi Corporation.

The final investment decision (FID) for the project is expected to be received by the fourth quarter of 2018, with a full notice to proceed issued shortly thereafter, Macro Spiecapag JV said in a separate statement.

Current in-service date of for Coastal GasLink pipeline is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2021.
