DeepOcean finds new chairman after current one resigns

DeepOcean, the Netherlands-based provider of subsea services related to offshore construction, has elected a new chairman of its board after the current one resigned.

Harald Norvik, who joined DeepOcean’s Board of Directors in July 2011, will serve as acting chairman until formally granted the title chairman by the annual general meeting of DeepOcean on April 13, 2016.

Thomas Thune Andersen, who resigned as chairman and member of DeepOcean’s Board of Directors, commented: “I have decided to step down from the Board to focus on other professional commitments. I would like to thank all my colleagues, the leadership team and board members for the very constructive and inspirational time together for the last many years.”

According to the company, Norvik is an independent consultant and advisor with more than 30 years of public and private sector experience, a large portion of which was in senior management positions overseeing operations in offshore oil and gas markets, including subsea construction and deepwater operations.

“It is a privilege that Harald has agreed to become chairman of DeepOcean. He knows the oil industry and DeepOcean very well. We are sad that Thomas has made the decision to step down from the Board of Directors. He has served on the Board since July 2011 and has been a great leader for the Company”, stated Bart Heijermans, DeepOcean’s CEO.
