Seven new short sea RoRo vessels to feature MacGregor RoRo systems from Cargotec

Cargotec has secured RoRo access contracts with German shipyard Flensburger Schiffbau Gesellschaft (FSG) for seven short sea RoRo vessels destined for UK and Turkish operators.

Cargotec has been contracted in September to deliver around 1,000 tonnes of MacGregor cargo access equipment for four RoRo short sea RoRo vessels for UK-based Seatruck Ferries and three RoRo freight-ferries for Ulusoy Sealines, in Turkey.

“Many shipowners take advantage of Cargotec’s cargo-handling expertise at the initial planning stage and involve us to develop their vessels’ general arrangement designs,” explains Göran Hugon, sales manager, for RoRo ships at Cargotec. “This approach offers benefits to the customers in terms of optimised cargo flow solutions, and reduced time in port.”

For Seatruck’s four newbuildings, each shipset includes: a straight cylinder operated stern ramp, a side-hinged ramp cover, two guillotine-type pilot doors and a hydraulic power pack. For Turkish operator Ulusoy, Cargotec will also deliver MacGregor cargo access systems that comprise: a cylinder operated stern ramp, a side-hinged ramp cover, a bulkhead door, two guillotine-type pilot doors and a hydraulic power pack.

The contract includes the design, production and installation of the RoRo access equipment and delivery and installation is planned for between 2011 and 2013.
