‘Whale’ ship joins BP clean-up operation

Clean-up hopes in the Gulf of Mexico are riding on a supertanker called The Whale. The world’s largest oil skimmer, from Taiwan, has cruised a 25 square-mile test site north of the Macondo deepwater well. It can process 21 million gallons of polluted water a day by sucking it up, separating the oil and returning water to the sea.
