Military escort for Gjøa hull

StatoilHydro relied on a military crew to get its newbuild semi-submersible hull destined for the Norwegian Gjøa development through the pirate-prone waters of the Gulf of Aden. The hull was being carried on the Dockwise transport ship Mighty Servant when it was escorted through the waterway. “This particular transport was given a high-priority classification due to its vulnerability and importance. The vessel is slow-moving and lies low in the water, making it easy to board,” said the Norwegian oil major.
