Navy awards $87 million contract at Pearl

BAE Systems has won a seven-year contract from the U.S. Navy to maintain Navy warships at Pearl Harbor. The company employs more than 300 people in Hawaii.

The Naval Sea Systems Command contract is a multiship, multioption award. For the first year it’s worth $87 million. The Navy has an option to extend it for each of six more years, and based on past practice that is the expected outcome. This would increase the value of the contract to $270 million.
