New contract Tampa Yacht Manufacturing

Tampa Yacht Manufacturing was recently awarded a contract with an International Government for seventeen (17), TEMPEST 35-SPC, SWAT Patrol Craft, a state-of-the-art, high-speed interceptor craft.

The fully-outfitted 35-SPC is an extremely effective purpose-built craft for special weapons and tactics (SWAT) teams and is of unmatched performance in its class.

Designed for coastal and near shore operations in varying sea and weather conditions, the fully enclosed 35-SPC is tailor-made for multi-mission operations, including identification, interception, and interdiction of suspicious vessels entering a nation’s territorial waters. The 35-SPC is also ideal for search and rescue, port security, police action and the pursuit of suspect vessels for boarding and arresting violators and seizing criminal vessels and contraband. Interception and identification can be accomplished without question or compromise.

The 35-SPC is powered by a pair of YANMAR 6LPTA-STP2, 315 HP inboard diesel engines mounted directly to a pair of high performance UltraJet 305 waterjets. The Yanmar-UltraJet propulsion package is capable of powering the 35 SPC to a maximum speed of 40 knots (WOT) with a minimum sustained cruising speed of 35 knots. The economical Yanmar diesels and highly efficient UltraJet waterjets give the 35 SPC a minimum range of 200 nautical miles at wide open throttle and a cruising range of 300+ nautical miles, reports Bob Stevens, CEO, Tampa Yacht Manufacturing LLC.

The 35-SPC is fully customizable with featured enhancements and modifications that may include, state-of-the-art navigation equipment consisting of GPS, Sonar, Echo sounder and compass, 360 degree pan and tilt infra-red night vision camera, 7.62mm NATO M240 gun mounts and threat level NIJ-III ballistic protection throughout.

The main deck and forward cockpit are watertight and self-bailing and all the fittings on the main deck are flush-mounted to avert tripping. Deck hatches are sized suitably to facilitate removal and replacement of all machinery, including main engines and drive within a matter of a few hours.

The wheelhouse and cabin include a full featured helmsman and engineer console stations and shock-mitigating seating. The cabin features seating for ten (10) quick reaction surge-team forces. Watertight doors lead from the aft cockpit to the cabin and from the forward end of the cabin to the foredeck. The craft features a retractable bow ramp for operational deployment of the ten (10) man surge troop. Additional hatches in cabin allow for ventilation and escape. There is over 6 feet of standing headroom in the cabin, which features ammunition and weapons storage lockers and hinged swing away seating to accommodate two emergency stretchers. An available custom built aluminium swim platform with open grate non-skid surface protects waterjets from damage.
