Shipping ties develop

Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co Ltd, China’s largest shipyard in terms of output, delivered a cargo vessel, the China Progress, to Taiwan-based Chinese Maritime Transport Ltd in Shanghai yesterday. The 289-meter ship, named by two girls from both sides of the straits, can hold 175,000-ton cargos and was the second built on the mainland for a Taiwanese company after the delivery of its sister vessel, China Peace, last June.
