HHI Won Newbuilding Orders of 31 Ships Worth US$3.5 billion in a Month

Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), the world’s largest shipbuilder, has announced that it has won a number of large orders worth US$3.5 billion for 31 vessels in just a month.

The high record newbuilding orders in June and the early of July have eclipsed the previous monthly newbuilding record of 24 ships worth US$2.6 in March.

The orders consist of four 159,000-dwt oil tankers from a Greek shipowner and 27 containerships including nine(9) 10,000-TEU containerships, four (4) 9,700-TEU containerships, four (4) 8,200-TEU containerships and ten (10) 6,500-TEU containerships from Israel and European shipowners.

Among them, its affiliate Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI) will build US$1.2 billion-worth five (5) 10,000-TEU containerships and four (4) 8,200-TEU containerships ordered from Zim of Israel.
