Daewoo wins $1,27bn order from Chevron unit in Angola

US oil firm Chevron Corp. will build the world’s biggest drilling and production platform at its Tombua Landana field in Angola, South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co. said on Thursday.

Daewoo, the world’s second-largest shipbuilder, said in a statement it won a 1,22 trillion won order to build the platform for Cabinda Gulf Oil Co. Ltd., Chevron’s unit in the African country, by May 2009.
