Tom Behrens-Sørensen resigns as Chairman of Maersk China Ltd

Tom Behrens-Sørensen, Group Executive Vice President, will step down as Chairman of Maersk China Ltd. after 14 years and leave the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group.

“Tom Behrens-Sørensen has been with the Group for more than 30 years. I would like to thank Tom for his work establishing a large network ranging from Government to local business partners. He has been a driving force in the development of A.P. Moller – Maersk Group’s activities in China with a number of important results to his credit,” says Group CEO Nils Smedegaard Andersen.

The A.P. Moller – Maersk Group has been operating in China for more than 80 years with large investments in, among other areas, terminals, logistics, intermodal services, and production plants. Furthermore, we have entered into a number of commercial partnerships with Chinese companies and built more than 100 vessels at Chinese shipyards.

Tom Behrens-Sørensen will assist the Group to ensure a smooth leadership transition and continuation of the relationships built during the many years he has worked in China.

“I will in future advise national and international companies, non-governmental organisations and governments about relations with Chinese society, which I believe is one of the greatest challenges of our time. This is a cause I would like to make a contribution to,” says Tom Behrens-Sørensen.
