VOR: Could have been a contender

At 1900GMT the wind was dropping and for an hour or so it carried on falling, and the boat speed dropped to about six knots. It looked as though the soft conditions had arrived early and the race was going to grind to a halt well before it got to Denmark. But by 2200GMT the wind was back up to 11 knots and boat speeds were hovering around the 13 knot mark on occasions. The fleet was stretching towards Denmark, getting offshore from Terschelling and fast approaching the shipping separation lanes as they turn east towards the River Elbe to Bremerhaven and Hamburg.
