MEYER WERFT Latest Newbuild AIDAstella to Leave the Building Dock I

Early on Friday, 25th January, 2013 MEYER WERFT latest newbuild AIDAstella will leave the building dock I. The docking procedure will start at approx. 7:30 h. Around 10:00 h AIDAstella will be shifted into the Yard’s harbor where several tests will be carried out. Berthing of the ship at the outfitting quay is scheduled for 19:00 h.

Weather-related changes for the undocking are possible. In the following days at the outfitting pier the last working activities, tests and trials will be carried out.

Following the undocking the first crew members will move into their quarters on board. On 9th/10th February 2013 the AIDAstella will start the conveyance trip at the EMS to go to Emden harbor from where more sea trials will be conducted.

The 71,300 tons club ship has a length overall of 253 m and a total width of 32.2 m. The ship is equipped with 1097 cabins and 7 restaurants and 12 bars. The new ship has 14 decks and equals her sister ships AIDAblu, AIDAsol and AIDAmar also in respect to size.

Four diesel engines will drive the cruise ship with 50.000 hp allowing the ship to operate at a speed of 23 knots. The ship’s interior decoration is characterized by a Nordic design and impresses with Scandinavian charm. The real birch forest on board on the ship is an absolute special feature. Also from a culinary point of view the AIDAstella has a lot to offer: With seven restaurants and twelve bars the restaurant area alone is larger than four kilometers.
