RigNet in exclusive comms deal with Borr Drilling

Offshore telecommunication services provider RigNet has scored an exclusive contract with jack-up rig specialist Borr Drilling.

RigNet said the multi-year agreement with Borr Drilling would see the company “exclusively provide enhanced managed communication services on any band (C, Ku or Ka) on all of their new premium jack-up rigs anywhere on the planet.”

RigNet said it would provide voice and video, enable critical corporate applications, deliver real-time data, and enhance crew communications over a private, secure network.

Also, RigNet will provide its CrewFlix, RigNet’s Video-On-Demand service which, RigNet says, has a library of 100+ films from major Hollywood studios, more than 90% of which top-grossing movies; Hours of popular TV series; Monthly content refreshes; Multiple languages for audio tracks and subtitles, and access to daily news and sports broadcasts.

RigNet, which recently agreed to pay $50,75 million to resolve a dispute with satellite telecommunication firm Inmarsat, did not provide the details on the value of the contract.

As of March 31, 2019, Borr Drilling’s total fleet consisted of 37 jack-up drilling rigs and one semi-submersible drilling rig, including the rigs yet to be delivered.
