Saudi Aramco awards another offshore gig to consortium of Subsea 7 and L&T

A consortium between India’s Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and UK’s Subsea 7 has won a contract for three gas production deck modules by Saudi Aramco.

This is the fourth award for the consortium of L&T’s subsidiary, L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE), and Subsea 7, the Indian company informed on Thursday.

Namely, there are already three offshore contracts currently under execution by the consortium for Saudi Aramco under a long-term agreement, which Subsea 7 took over in June 2017 through the acquisition of certain business of a bankrupt EMAS Chiyoda Subsea. Subsea 7 paid less than $100 million to acquire certain EMAS Chiyoda businesses and in the process got a $850 million worth of order backlog, including the three Saudi Aramco projects.

The latest project awarded to the consortium consists of engineering, procurement, fabrication, transportation, installation and commissioning of three gas production decks with a high integrity protection systems and exotic materials that will protect the plant for a life of fifty years and more. Two of the decks will be installed in Hasbah and one in Arabiyah field for Saudi Aramco.

LTHE has three fabrication yards and this project will be built at its flagship facility at Hazira.

Located about 150 km northeast of Jubail Industrial City in the Arabian Gulf, the two non-associated gas fields, the Hasbah and Arabiyah, will produce 2.5 billion standard cubic feet per day of natural gas through the onshore Wasit Gas Plant.
