Scandlines Eyes New Ferries

Scandlines Eyes New Ferries

In order to strengthen the Central European traffic corridor, Scandlines is planning to invest in two new double-ended ferries for the Gedser-Rostock crossing.

The ferries must provide high capacity, be environmentally friendly and give customers a unique on-board experience. The design and requirements specifications have recently been sent to a small number of shipyards, and by the end of May 2013, Scandlines expects to sign a contract for two double-ended ferries for delivery in time for the peak season in 2015.

Modernisation of Scandlines’ existing fleet will continue throughout 2013 and 2014 where the focus will be on reducing fuel consumption while enhancing the overall customer experience.
