    MEYER WERFT delivered the 69,200-gt cruise ship ‘AIDAbella’ to the Owner AIDA Cruises in the German port of Emden. The AIDAbella is the second ship out of a series of six the Papenburg shipyard is building for AIDA Cruises. On this ship luxury interiors are combined with state-of-the-art technical outfitting.

    The US cruise operator Celebrity Cruises (Miami), a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, has ordered a fifth big cruise liner from MEYER WERFT in Papenburg. The previous contracts for four ships of the Solstice class are now followed by a pre-contract for the construction of a fifth cruise ship.

The winner of the AIDA name contest, Sabine Mattenheimer from Bavaria, who works for a travel agency, laid the traditional lucky penny under the first of a total of 55 blocks.
