Shearwater hired for another seismic shoot by Turkish TPAO

Shearwater GeoServices has been awarded a seismic acquisition and depth processing contract by Turkish national oil and gas company TPAO.

The survey covers an area of 6,200 sq. km and includes fast-track processing, followed by full time and depth processing, Shearwater said on Monday.

The seismic company added that the four-month project would start in 3Q 2019 and would be conducted by the Polar Empress vessel, immediately after its completion of a full North Sea summer season.

It is the second project to be executed by Shearwater for TPAO in 2019. The first one was awarded last March and covered an area of 2200 sqkm.

“We look forward to returning to the Turkish Black Sea for this 14-streamer survey following strong execution and high productivity on the previous survey and processing contract for TPAO,” said Irene Waage Basili, the CEO of Shearwater GeoServices.

“We are very pleased to see continued high utilization of the Polar Empress on client projects and repeat business for our Processing & Imaging business.”
