Strengthening Maritime Relationships

This year’s Maritime Industry is already the eleventh edition of the exhibition for the entire maritime industry. From shipbuilding to ship repair and from engineering to financial services; all branches of the industry will be present. The exhibition takes place from 2 until 4 June 2015. What is to be expected this year?

Overall growth

In 2014 Maritime Industry welcomed over 500 exhibitors and 16,300 visitors. At the beginning of March 90 per cent of available stands for the 2015-edition had been booked says Rianne Kabbes, sales manager at

Evenementenhal: “This are 40 exhibitors more than at the same time last year. Also, there are 54 companies new to the exhibition. So we expect to grow even further.”

She continues: “We have a large number of loyal exhibitors who return each year, as, for them the exhibition is the event of the year. Furthermore, the growth can be explained because the number of German exhibitors is growing and the positive market developments leave companies the choice to invest in events like Maritime Industry.”  A development the event team already noticed last year.

Networking opportunities

Maritime Industry wants to offer its visitors and exhibitors the possibility to network and thus meet new as well as existing contacts. “A lot of these companies are involved in shipping and therefore contact moments like these are very important. Next to networking, showing your new products and developments are a very important part of the exhibition.”

Connect the industry

One of the exhibitors is Werkendam Maritime Industries, a partnership between 30 companies in the maritime industry of Werkendam, the Netherlands.

Karin Struijk, project manager: “The organisation aims to increase Werkendam’s reputation as a maritime region and to show what is going on through newsletters etcetera. Furthermore, we want to connect entrepreneurs, the government and educational institutes in order to promote collaboration and projects. Think of field trips to companies, or guest lectures at schools. This way the industry delivers a contribution to the education of the youngsters and the youngsters get to know who could be their possible future employer.”

The right target audience

In order to promote the partnership Werkendam Maritime Industries an entire Werkendam street will be created at Maritime Industry.

Struijk: “The target audience of the exhibition is ours as well. Next to this, Maritime Industry offers a lot of products and services in the area of the shipping industry as does Werkendam Maritime Industries.”

Struijk continues: “Unity is strength. In our Werkendam street companies like De Waal, Hoogendoorn Maritieme Betimmeringen and Concordia can profile themselves in the presence of colleagues from Werkendam, with which collaborations for new contracts are made easily and fast. Furthermore, the exhibition is a great opportunity for the companies to tighten the relationships with existing and new partners and clients.”
