STXM Gets FORAN Licenses

STXM Gets FORAN Licenses

The naval architecture and marine engineering consultant STX Canada Marine (STXM), has signed a contract with Sener Ingeniería y Sistemas, S.A. (SENER) for the license to use the FORAN CAD/CAM System.

After the implementation of FORAN in its headquarters in Vancouver, STXM is conducting a learning process during the summer focused on the early design process in 3D. STXM has acquired FORAN licenses covering Hull Forms, General Arrangement & Naval Architecture, Hull Structure, Machinery & Outfitting and Drafting and Drawing.

STXM, which forms part of STX Offshore and Shipbuilding, is a reference company with great experience in ship design, covering a wide range of projects for shipyards and ship-owners over the world. Due to the high competence of STXM staff, the company can execute projects of different types, sizes and level of complexity. Over the years, STXM has acquired an important specialization in offshore supply vessels and offshore patrol vessels. The company has four offices in North America. In the ongoing modernization process that STXM is conducting, the selection of FORAN is a key factor, as a 3D CAD/CAM tool for the design and production of any kind of vessel.

FORAN enables STXM to cover the total process of the ship design in 3D, which is fundamental to improve the productivity and quality.
