STX France: Steel Cutting for Third Oasis-Class Ship

Royal Caribbean International cut the first piece of steel today for its third Oasis-class ship, marking the first construction milestone for a vessel that, at approximately 227,700 GRT, will be the world’s largest and most innovative cruise ship.

Nordic Yards Kicks Off Construction of Two Ice-Breaking Rescue/Salvage Vessels

Nordic Yards started construction of two ice-breaking rescue and salvage vessels for the Russian Ministry of Transport today. The cutting of the first steel section, which traditionally marks the start of flame-cutting, was celebrated at the Wismar yard in the presence of representatives of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS) classification society.

Cosco Hands Over MV Galloway Express to Vroon

Vroon took delivery of MV Galloway Express on Monday, 23rd of September 2013. Galloway Express is the first of four livestock carriers being constructed at the Cosco Shipyard in Guangdong for Vroon. The remaining three vessels are scheduled for delivery later this year and early in 2014.
