Launching of WSDOT's 144-Car Ferry Tokitae

US Fab team successfully floated Washington State Ferries’ newest vessel, the 144-car M/V Tokitae, July 19th. The ferry was moved in drydock to the launch location at pier 6, where the drydock was lowered and the ferry pulled out by tugs.

The ferry will remain pier side for the next few months for painting, outfitting of passenger areas and system testing. The Tokitae is on track to be delivered to WSF in early 2014.

The design of the ferry is based on the 130-car Issaquah class, which has proven to be the most versatile vessel in the state fleet. Benefits of the new 144-car ferry include increased passenger comfort, improved safety systems, better access for customers with disabilities and reduced operating costs.
