Yamal LNG, Murmansk Enter Strategic Agreement for Sabetta Port

MSCo has won the contract thanks to its 75 years of experience in the year-round cargo deliveries to the difficult to approach ports and harbors of the Russian Arctic.

The strategic agreement will provide Yamal LNG timely and year-round delivery of construction materials. In accordance with the contract the total volume of goods delivered will be about 1.5 million freight tons. The contract includes transportation of wide range of cargo for construction on the eastern shore of the Yamal project.

Unique ice-class vessels of SА-15 Super type (m/v Y.Arshenevskiy, Kapitan Danilkin), Dmitriy Pozharskiy type (m/v A.Suvorov, P.Velikiy), Mikhail Strekalovskiy type (m/v V.Tkachyov) and Grumant type (m/v Grumant) will participate in the transportation.

These vessels can operate under extremely low temperatures. Some of them are equipped with cranes allowing them to self-unload various goods, including large cargoes.

According to specialists of MSCo, during certain periods of time 15 vessels will be used on this route every month.

The Yamal LNG project includes the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant with capacity of 16.5 million tons of LNG annually based on the resource of the South Tambeyskoye field. Yamal LNG is owned by NOVATEK (60%), TOTAL (20%) and CNPC (20%)
