Zamakona Misses Second Deadline

Zamakona Misses Second Deadline

Zamakona Yards has missed a second deadline to deliver Solvtrans’ new wellboat, Ronja Polaris that was scheduled for delivery in late August.

The vessel, which is of Rolls-Royce NVC 386 design, features an advanced diesel-electric propulsion system including two Rolls-Royce Bergen C6 diesel engines and a hybrid shaft generator, which significantly reduces energy consumption on board. Also, the considerable emphasis has been placed on living quarters and working environment for the crew in order to enhance crew comfort during long periods at sea.

At the moment, the wellboat is undergoing testing and sea-trials at the yard and is supposed to leave Bilbao bound for Norway in the course of a few weeks’ time.

Sølvtrans will, according to the newbuilding contract with the yard, receive compensation for the delivery delays.
