ZPMC Sells Its First Built Jack-Up Drilling Rig

Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) Co., Ltd. a subsidiary of China Communications Construction, has signed a sales and purchase deal with KS Drilling Pte Ltd for its Super M2 300 ft jack-up drilling platform, Zhenhai 1, SinoShip writes.

The sale agreement is said to be worth US$165.5 million.

The platform is a pioneering project of ZPMC and it is slated for delivery in 2014.

“Zhenhai No. 1” is intended for offshore oil exploration in shallow waters, and its operating water depth is 100 m.

The rig’s maximum drilling depth equals to 9,144 meters, whereas its approved load amounts to 2,722 tons.

The platform is based on the design provided by China Communications Construction’s subsidiary based in the U.S., Friede Goldman United, Ltd. (“F&G”)
