Fearnleys: 31 Ships Ordered Last Week

Fearnleys Weekly newbuilding report said that in total 31 ships were ordered last week.

Navig8, who recently made contracts for potentially up to 20 wide beam LR1 type product carriers, have added another six VLCCs to their orderbook. A Suezmax order surfaced as CM Lemos went to Hyundai Heavy for two plus two optional two 160,000 dwt. Turning to bulkers, Cosco placed orders domestically for a total of four Capesizes and four handysizes, and the ultramax orderlist increased further by six firm units. The newbuilding activity for smaller size container ships has remained dormant for quite some time; therefore interesting to note Reederei Nord’s activity in China for 2500 and 1700 teu sizes.
