The maintenance dredging and improvement project, which will be accomplished by Prock Marine Company, of Rockland, Maine, will take about three months to complete and will be completed by the end of March 2011.

Work on the Bucks Harbor Federal Navigation Project consists of maintenance of the existing 8-foot anchorage and the improvement dredging of an 8-foot channel and turning basin, expanded 8-foot anchorage and a new 6-foot anchorage.

Dredged material will be removed mechanically by clamshell bucket or excavator, loaded onto scows and towed to the disposal site. The dredged material will be disposed of at the Machias Bay Disposal Area.

The environmental window when dredging and disposal can be performed is from November 8 to March 31.

The project will be managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District. All work will be accomplished under the supervision of a Corps Quality Assurance Representative to assure compliance with contract requirements.
