Foster Wheeler AG announced today that the UK subsidiary of its Global Engineering and Construction Group has been awarded, for the fourth year running, the prestigious Order of Distinction Award for Occupational Health and Safety by the UK’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), and also its eighteenth consecutive RoSPA Gold Award for outstanding health and safety performance on UK and international projects.
The Order of Distinction is RoSPA’s highest achievement award and is only presented to those companies which have attained at least 15 consecutive RoSPA Gold Awards for outstanding health and safety performance on projects around the world.
“We take great pride in receiving once again the prestigious RoSPA Order of Distinction Award for our 2010 safety performance,” said Troy Roder, Chairman and CEO, Foster Wheeler Energy Limited . “This award reflects our company’s commitment to health and safety and the dedication of our employees who share our company’s core values and our drive to maintain the world-class health and safety performance of which we are all very proud. Maintaining this high standard takes tremendous effort and focus, and we are implementing a range of new health and safety initiatives to ‘raise the bar’ even higher.”
David Rawlins, awards manager, RoSPA, said, “RoSPA firmly believes that organizations that have demonstrated their commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill-health prevention deserve recognition. Foster Wheeler has shown that it is committed to striving for such continuous improvement and we are delighted to honor it through the presentation of this award.”
RoSPA, a safety charity, launched its awards program 55 years ago. The scheme looks not only at accident records, but also entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including important practices such as strong leadership and workforce involvement.
