Korea’s Hyundai Mipo Dockyard has delivered bulk carrier of 57.400 DWT the M/V Desert Oasis, the last vessel in a series of eight vessels ordered by Atlantic Bulk Carriers Management Ltd. Capt. Nikolaos Tzakis along with Chief Engineer Sevastianos Stamatis will take her on her maiden voyage.

Capt. Tzakis had also taken on her maiden voyage the M/V Desert Calm, the very first vessel in that series of 8 HMD vessels. MV Desrt Calm was named Ship of the Year during Lloyd’s List Greek Shipping Awards 2011.

Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co, one of HHI’s subsidiaries, had started shipbuilding in the early 1980′s and strengthened its newbuilding business since 1996 according to mid-term business strategy. The company is a shipbuilder of medium-sized vessels such as product/chemical carrier, bulk carrier, container carrier, PCTC, Con/Ro-Ro vessel, LPG carrier, General Cargo Carrier, Asphalt Carrier, offshore units and specialized vessels.
