Polite Laboyrie, Chairman of the CEC Environment Commission (CEC) represents WODA at the 35th and 6th meetings of the Scientific Groups of the London Convention and the London Protocol respectively, in Jeju, Republic of Korea (21 – 25 May 2012).

Andy Birchenough, who will attend the meetings as a member of the UK delegation and who is also a CEC member, will also take on representing WODA/CEDA as required.

One important item on the LC/SG agenda is the revision of the LC Specific guidelines for assessment of dredged material. CEDA submitted written comments to the Scientific Groups and will participate in the work in Jeju.

The meetings of the Scientific Groups were preceded by a one week workshop “Protection of Urban Ports and Ocean Environment” (14-18 May).

Polite Laboyrie gave a presentation on European approaches to sustainable sediment management.
