Production from Statoil-operated Snorre A tension leg platform was shut last night after a gas alarm on board the facility went off, Reuters reports.

A Norwegian oil giant’s spokesperson informed Reuters that the platform, located in the Norwegian part of the North Sea was undergoing a partial restart this morning.

Snorre A is an integrated production, drilling and quarters (PDQ) unit. This tension leg platform (TLP) is moored to the seabed by steel tethers. Partly stabilised oil and gas from Snorre A is piped to the nearby Statfjord A platform for final processing. Snorre A came in production twenty years ago, in August, 1992.
