Yellow Gate Police said that a three-ft-long bomb, reportedly used in World War II, was found in the sea, 6.48 nautical miles (12 km) from the Gateway of India.

The oval-shaped explosive got stuck in the teeth of a dredging machine while clearing sand from the seabed on Thursday night. Due to fear of explosion, the 1-ft in diameter bomb has not been removed.

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) officials stopped the dredging work and informed defence officials.
