UAE: Grandweld Hands Over First Service Boat to KOTC

Grandweld delivered the first of two 21.3 Aluminum Fast Service Boats to Kuwait Oil Tanker Company. A special delivery and acceptance ceremony was held at KOTC head office on October 31, 2012.

The contract was signed in November 2011 to design and deliver two 21.3 Aluminum service boats. The vessel is powered by twin Hamilton waterjet installation to ensure high speed and maneuvering capabilities, and is designed to reach a speed in excess of 31 knots at 100%MCR. The vessel incorporates seating capacity for 20 offshore personnel, and a deck cargo carrying capacity up to 4 Tons. The vessel is also equipped with the latest technology of navigation and communication equipments.

“We are pleased that KOTC has chosen Grandweld Shipyards to design and build the two service boats that will be part of KOTC new fleet. At Grandweld, we pride ourselves in understanding the market demand for light weight fast crew boats especially in the gulf region. We are committed to deliver high quality offshore products that support regional marine industry.” said Jamal Abki, Grandweld General Manager .

The high speed crew boat will be utilized by KOTC Marine Agency Branch to safely transport passengers and cargo to and from tankers calling Kuwaiti Oil Terminals. The second vessel is scheduled for delivery in December 2012.
