The Pakistan Foreign Office underlined that Pakistan would go ahead with the Iran-Pakistan Gas pipeline despite US reservations.

Foreign Office spokesman Moazam Khan in his weekly briefing said that US has its reservations on the IP gas pipeline as it has imposed sanctions on Iran but that it’s their stance we would continue with this project despite their reservations, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

He said that “Pakistan is facing sever energy crisis and in order to meet our needs we are adamant to go ahead with this project.”

Deputy minister of petroleum and managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Javad Owji had earlier said: “all the already made agreements between the two countries under the Iran-Pakistan gas contract are valid adding Tehran will start delivery of 21.5 million cubic meters of gas per day to the neighboring country as of December 2014.”
