Balltec Ltd, the UK based supplier of PipeLOK™ pipeline recovery tools, has successfully recovered pipe sections from 5030ft in the Gulf of Mexico.

Balltec Ltd were contracted by Technip to supply an 18” PipeLOK™ tool to grip an existing gas pipeline in preparation for a cut and recovery operation. The recovery operation involved the PipeLOK™ lifting two sections of pipe to the J-lay tower. For each lift the PipeLOK™ made a subsea connection and disconnection.

‘Connecting and disconnecting to pipes subsea is no easy feat, especially when water depths are significant. Our successful completion of two subsea lifts at some 5300ft has again proven that the PipeLOK™ is one of the most dependable pipeline A&R tools on the market.’

The PipeLOK™ rental fleet covers sizes from 3″ to 48″ making Balltec available even in an emergency.

Building on 30 years’ experience, Balltec designs, tests and manufactures PipeLOK™ tools and are proud to call the PipeLOK™ the most advanced engineered product for the laydown and recovery of pipes, risers, conductors and piles.
