July will see construction begin at the AMBAU site in Cuxhaven, Germany of the largest offshore tower ever built for a wind turbine, measuring 7.33 metres at the base flange.

USA: Statoil Freezes Hywind Maine Project

Statoil has decided to suspend the Hywind Maine project, which includes the deployment of floating wind turbines 12 miles southeast of Boothbay Harbor.

GDF and EDP Join Forces for Second French Offshore Wind Round

GDF SUEZ S.A., French multinational electric utility company, has decided to join forces with Portuguese EDP Renovaveis S/A to bid for offshore wind farms in France, reports Les Echos.

Layer of Stones to Protect Connection Cables at Danish Offshore Wind Farm

The 111 wind turbines in the Anholt offshore wind farm are connected with Energinet.dk’s offshore substation via approximately 160 kilometres of cable flushed down into the seabed. However, at several positions, it has not been possible to flush the cable at a sufficient depth due to stones or hard seabed.
