La Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE), Mexico’s state utility, said in a statement it had declared force majeure last week on imports into the Manzanillo LNG terminal after Hurricane Manuel damaged the Guadalajara Pipeline, owned by TransCanada.

“ The force majeure derived from a possible break in the pipeline involving a natural gas leak due to heavy rains and flooding ,” the statement revealed.

“ This situation has affected the LNG supply from at least one vessel scheduled to arrive at the Manzanillo terminal on 21 September ,” CFE added.

The 500,000 Mc/d import terminal, built and owned by a consortium of Samsung and Mitsui, each with a stake of 37.5%, and Kogas, with 25%, is the third of its type in Mexico.
