The Board of Directors of the Executive Committee of Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) has drafted the agenda for its upcoming ministerial meeting in Tehran.

The GECF, bringing together 13 countries, drafted the agenda in its Doha meeting last Wednesday to be discussed during the Tehran meeting on November 3, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

During the Doha meeting, Iran, Libya and Russia nominated their candidates for the post of GECF secretary-general.

Iran has nominated Mohammad-Hossein Adeli as its candidate for the top post.

GECF’s outgoing secretary-general Leonid Bokhanovsky recently told that a variety of issues regarding the GECF are to be discussed in the Tehran ministerial meeting.

He said that a new secretary-general for the body will be examined while next year’s plans of the forum will be also discussed besides the gas market.

GECF members account for 42 percent of the world’s gas production, 70 percent of the world’s gas reserves, 38 percent of pipeline gas transmission and 85 percent of liquefied natural gas (LNG) trade.

Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, the United Arab Emirates and Oman constitute the 13 member states of GECF. The Netherlands, Kazakhstan and Norway have observer status and Iraq has recently joined the forum.
