The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has issued an order to Statoil following the investigation of the hydrocarbon leak at Oseberg A facility in the Norwegian part of the North Sea. The investigation identified serious breaches of the regulations.

Through the investigation, it was revealed that key work processes for the operation of the Oseberg Field Centre are inadequate. A number of activities have taken place during normal operations and have continued for several years without the work processes being risk-assessed, updated or prepared, the PSA has revealed.

The PSA today ordered Statoil to review, risk-assess and update work processes for the operation of the wells and process facilities at Oseberg Field Centre. The deadline for complying with the order is set at 31.3.2014.
