Golar LNG said that Gary Smith has agreed to return to Golar to provide commercial support to the company, particularly in relation to LNG ship chartering activities and development of the FLNG activities.

Smith was previously CEO of Golar Management, in the period April 2006 until July 2009. Most recently Smith has worked for Caltex Australia in the position of General Manager Supply Chain, with responsibilities for oil trading and shipping, oil refinery operation and oil product distribution throughout Australia.

Prior to joining Golar in 2006, Smith worked for STASCO (Shell Trading & Shipping Co) in London in the position of General Manager Commercial Shipping and also served as President and Director of SIGGTO (Society of International Gas Tanker & Terminal Operators) during the period from 2002 to 2009.

“The Board believes that the experience Smith brings to the company is extremely valuable particularly in view of Golar’s ambitions to maximize the value of its recently expanded LNG carrier fleet through combining FLNG activities with FSRUS and traditional shipping,” Golar said in a statement.
