Coral Morphologic divers are collecting corals and transplanting them in an aquaculture lab to save them of destruction during the Panama Canal widening project.

The Panama Canal expansion project is intended to double the capacity of the Panama Canal by 2015 by creating a new lane of traffic and allowing more and larger ships to transit. After dredging operations the channel is supposed to be 8 feet deep, according to Tribtown.

The project is expected to create demand for ports to handle New Panamax ships.
