Over the past year, the company’s workload has been declining. This has resulted in several staff reductions. Simultaneously, Aibel has done extensive work to improve its competitiveness within the different business units.

Employees within staff functions as well as the company’s core business – engineering, procurement, fabrication and project management – have been asked to leave their positions. All eight of Aibel’s Norwegian offices, as well as its international offices, have been affected by the reductions.

New reductions of 250 employees were executed in August 2014 . The reductions spread over the company’s offices in Bergen, Haugesund, Kristiansund, Harstad, Stjørdal and Hammerfest.

On October 1, 2014 up to 230 new terminations were executed among personnel related to Haugesund.

Two days ago ( October 27, 2014 ) Aibel announced the need to reduce its workforce with an additional 300 employees. The reductions are spread over all Norwegian locations, with emphasis on Stavanger, Oslo, Haugesund and Stjørdal.
