The information was revealed today by Lamprell, the company that built the rig. The rig, owned by Greatship Global Energy Services Pte. Ltd, will join its sister rig the “ Greatdrill Chaaya “, delivered also by Lamprell in 2013.

Named at a ceremony that was held at Lamprell’s Hamriyah facility in the UAE on February 9, the ‘Greatdrill Chaaru’ will leave to its drilling location, offshore India within the next few days.

“Greatdrill Chaaru” has been designed according to the LeTourneau Super 116E (Enhanced) Class design.

Bharat Sheth , Chairman, Greatship Group commented: “There has been excellent teamwork between the Lamprell and Greatship project team members, they have completed the project ahead of time without any major incidents and I am impressed, above all, with the quality of workmanship.”

Commenting on the delivery, Jim Moffat , Chief Executive Officer, Lamprell, said: “I am pleased to be marking the early completion and delivery of this rig to Greatship. Our project team has performed extremely well to deliver this project ahead of schedule, as per the client’s requirements and within budget.

“The Group’s project execution continues to be of the highest standards and further demonstrates Lamprell’s proven capability to fabricate high quality, complex products for use in the global energy industry. We are proud that Greatship has chosen to partner with Lamprell in relation to this latest addition to their jackup fleet and we are confident that this rig will perform to their client’s expectations in the upcoming operations.”
