Following the Pluto LNG facility shutdown, Woodside Energy said the production is to restart progressively in the coming days.

The production at the Pluto LNG facility on the Burrup Peninsula was stopped due to a drifting drilling rig that came close to the plant’s flowlines.

According to local media reports, the company is launching an investigation into the cause of the incident.

Atwood Oceanics, the owner of the Atwood Ospray drilling rig informed that the Chevron-contracted semisubmersible drilling unit parted several mooring lines and drifted approximately three nautical miles from its original position during Cyclone Olwyn.

The company said in a statement that the rig is currently stable with a support vessel in position, and preliminary results indicate minimal damage with an estimated maximum of 30 days out of service time for repairs.
