Senator Fabian Manning announced yesterday that the Government of Canada will invest in major improvement projects at eleven small craft harbors in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Funding will provide a safer and more efficient working environment for fishermen and harbor users across the province.

“ Since 2006, our Government has continuously made major investments that create opportunities for Canadians and encourage the prosperity of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. We are pleased to continue to support the hardworking people of Harbor Breton and its surrounding communities. As always, our Government will continue to ensure safe and efficient working conditions for those who earn their livelihood at these harbors, ” said Manning.

Federal funding of up to $17.6 million is being allocated to harbor improvement projects at the following eleven harbors over the next two years:

All projects are expected to be completed by March 2017.
