Singapore-based owner and operator of gas carriers BW LPG Limited has taken delivery of BW Libra, the fifth Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) in its newbuilding programme of eight VLGCs, from South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).

Following the delivery, the vessel will immediately join BW LPG’s commercial programme.

Commenting on the delivery, BW LPG CEO Martin Ackermann said: “The newbuilding programme plays an important role in our customer commitment to delivering quality transportation of LPG. We are very pleased with the high quality of vessels delivered from HHI and look forward to the continuation of this partnership.”

Including the BW Libra, the company now owns and operates a fleet of 39 vessels, comprising 26 owned VLGCs, eight chartered-in VLGCs, and five owned LGCs, making it the world’s largest VLGC owner and operator by number of VLGCs and by LPG carrying capacity.
