LNG Croatia informed it has received a location permit for the liquefied natural gas import terminal on the island of Krk in Omišalj.

Location permit represents the key document in the project development and it serves as a basis for the main design, the company said in a statement.

The state-owned company recently closed a call for tenders for the preparation of tender documentation for the construction of the LNG terminal Krk and consulting services related to the construction contract for the terminal.

LNG Croatia requested FEED preparation and main design preparation for Krk LNG terminal and obtaining of construction permit and terminal power supply system documentation.

The terminal, valued at €600 million has been declared a strategic investment project by the Croatian government.

The construction of the LNG facility on the island of Krk is expected to start in mid-2016 with works to be completed within three years.
