Alaska LNG project’s participants informed the final application is expected to be delayed by at least three months from the initial date set for September 2016.

According to a recent report filed with the United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the delay is due “to ongoing pre-Front End Engineering and Design (pre-FEED) and engineering optimization work.”

The project’s participants, the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation and affiliates of BP, ConocoPhillips, and ExxonMobil are proposing to build a natural gas liquefaction plant in the Nikiski area on the Kenai Peninsula, an 800-mile gas pipeline from southcentral Alaska to the North Slope, a gas treatment plant and transmission lines connecting the project to gas producing fields.

The project which is expected to cost between US$46-$65 billion is planned to produce and export up to 20 million metric tons of LNG per year.
