Montco lift boat Paul has loaded the last of the components for the fifth and final wind turbine to be installed at the 30MW Block Island wind farm.

L/B Paul will depart the Port of Providence and deliver the components some three miles off Block Island, where Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s installation vessel Brave Tern will assemble the final GE Renewable Energy Haliade 150-6MW turbine. The fourth turbine was installed on 16 August.

Brave Tern installed the first wind turbine at the site on 4 August.

Developed by Deepwater Wind, Block Island is the first offshore wind farm in US waters, planned for full commissioning by the end of the year.
